RE: [DIY] Digest Number 7196

I would try water first. Then vinegar if that doesn't work.

Like wrap a towel tightly around the bottom of the bucket, and keep it saturated with water / vinegar…

There is an old 3 gallon crock stuck on the cement floor on my mom's
basement floor. It has been there for years. I have no idea what ever
caused this.

Any suggstions on what I could soak it with that might break the stucktivity?

Re: [DIY] Recalibrating Gas Oven

I did a test I found online which was basically bring it to temp and then check it every 20 minutes.

Here's how it played out:

Preheat beep (set to 425): 325
5 minutes: 425
20 minutes: 400
40 minutes: 400
60 minutes: 400

Seems like it was hitting a steady state of 25 degrees too low. So I used the calibration function and added 25 degrees. Same test:

Preheat beep (set to 425): 350
5 minutes 450
20 minutes: 425
40 minutes: 425
60 minutes: 425

So sometime between 5 minutes and 20 minutes, it settles 25 degrees and then stays steady. Is that pretty normal for gas ranges? If so, then I think calibration fixed this.

Re: [DIY] Recalibrating Gas Oven

I would think the only thing you need to recalibrate is the beeper.  It's saying it's the right temperature when it's not.  It is possible, though, that this a design thing not to burn the outside of what you are cooking before the entire item is heated.

Bake some cookies and then contemplate the situation while enjoying the goodies.

We don't use our new Samsung gas range that often, but it's coming up on the end of its warranty. We hung an individual thermometer and hung that on the middle rack and tested the preheat.

We set it to 450. When it beeped as in ready, the hanging thermometer showed 325. Five minutes later, it was exactly at 450.

This delay was pretty consistent in time. Is this normal for fairly new ovens?

I asked Samsung support and they said I could try recalibrating the oven. There's an internal setting that you can make +/- 30 degrees. However, does it really need recalibrating if the steady state temp is correct (450 in this case)?

As always, thanks!
