Re: [DIY] Compatible exchange for small elec. fan

Just to be totally correct, get the 120 volts between 1 hot leg and a neutral, not the equipment grounding conductor.

Try a search on this CMF-1425-MU   It is probably either 5 or 12 VDC but you can get a small transformer and a bridge rectifier to take care of its power requirements.  There are several 5 inch fans and a few 5 and 1/2 available.  The booster fan for 6 inch air duct might also work and you might even be able to adapt the old mounting brackets.  I'm sure fancy is not your primary concern at this point.  Duct fans are only about 25 dollars and are usually fairly quiet.  If you are using the incubator on 220 just run the fan from one hot leg to ground.

Dale or anyone else who might have an answer.
We are trying to repair an old incubator. It is a German model
Brumbach. Only one company services this incubator in the US.
It will take a Heldolph 230v. fan motor to fix it but the co. who has
them wants $275 plus shipping for that little jewel.
It is one of those small 5' square by 1 1/2 deep motors the size of an
ETRI model 141 LU.

We are trying to insert a comparable replacement.
any suggestions?
I am getting financially buried in this project.
