This guy seemed to use a pen ink cartridge. Taped the string to it and then (what sounds like) he inch-wormed it through the entire channel. Bunched up the elastic and moved the pen through it... small sections at a time. Could be that the tube is thin enough with enough flex to make things happen.

Somebody must have the ticket on this. The "channel" is total elastic. I pulled the string all the way out and pushed a thin wire through the whole channel. But now I can't get the wire to pull the string back. This is Michigan. If I soak the string in water and place it straight outside overnight, do you think I can push it through in the morning?
