Re: [DIY] Question about ceiling & remotes

I've used a fan remote for about 20 years, never had any problem with it. I had the same problem, switch site next to a door, plaster all around it. Original wiring is BX, no open space in the conduit. So I went ahead and used the wireless, house was built in 1954. It has a bracket that allows the remote to hang on the wall anywhere in range of the control box. I never take it off the wall, it works just like a switch. The control box is in the attic in close proximity to the fan. There wasn't a light outlet for the fan there either but that was easy to deal with.

OK guys, when all else fails, I turn to you :)  We need to have a fan w/light installed in the area where we are currently installing a wood ceiling.  They guy had planned to install the fan with the remote only - no wall switch.  There has never been a light in this area, and it's something to do with how hard it would be to find the right wire and connect to a new switch, since he can't easily get into the area to run wires??  He can wire it to existing light switch but I don't want to have them on just to have the fan light on.
