Re: [DIY] Problem with scale buildup

I agree with the idea of a water softener for the house.  It is a tad expensive, but it'll save money and scrubbing in the long run.

Subject: [DIY] Problem with scale buildup

We have very hard water and have problems with scale buildup in the hot water tank and now in the dishwasher.  I know there is something you can attach on the pipes leading to the hot water tank that filters all the water coming into the house - but have no information as to what is best, expense, or if there is something else available.  We can use a Brita Pitcher for the coffee pot etc, but I'm worried about the dishwasher now.  Nothing seems to clean the scale from the rods at the bottom.

Any information appreciated.
