Ask them specifically what the powder is before you do anything. Most likely the white powder is borax [borate]. Harmless to people and pets, but deadly to insects. If that is what they applied it will wash out with water. If they applied anything else, you need to know precisely what you are dealing with before you disturb it.

[DIY] Termite question

 

Just bought a home. Had a termite done. After the inspection, they applied some white stuff on the areas that had termites. My question is how do I get rid of the white powder stuff? Can I wash it off with water, or do I have to paint it over with the same paint? Thanks in advance for any help.

WD40 might work the same way but the hand sanitizer definitely works and it doesn't damage the paint.

Use hand sanitizer. Squirt it on and rub it off with a clean rag.  Won't hurt the paint and comes right off.

[DIY] Sap on Car

 

Ok, I know I shouldn't have let this go for months. But it got cold fast, then winter... Last Fall I parked my car under some trees that dripped sap on my car.  I recently tried GooGone and it did take some off but not all.  Any advice besides just applying more and rubbing and rubbing? Most of the spots are on the trunk and roof so should I be applying it with something like a piece of cotton and letting it sit?

I made that once without much of an idea of what I was trying to achieve. I had a bunch of scrap 2x6 pieces and just started making a ladder.
There is a cat bed hanging off the curtain box that gives them a high perch. Also on the other side of the curtain box is a post covered in carpet that hangs off the curtain box that goes down to the floor.
They usually use it all when they get a moment of energy and run along it from one direction or the other. Sometimes they sleep in the bed at the top. They always use the stairs. Cats love high places.
I posted another picture showing the bed and the carpet post along with one with one using the bed.
The ladder and bed has since been painted the same paint as the walls.

[DIY] cat barrier

 

We had another inspiration we might try.........that is getting a big folding screen or two, and attaching them to the living room side of the wall.  Then put pieces of sticky tape that you can buy in pet stores on strategic places on the screens and on other approaches to the wall. (I thought of an oblong acquarium too, but think of the disasters that could make!!!) Thaks so much,
