[DIY] Re: Trap under kitchen sink

 

Re: PVC slip-joint overlap: An inch or two is better (when allowed); a lot of the female side of pvc pipes will accept several inches (say, 4-inch, for example), so cut two inches extra, which gives you extra room to adjust shorter/ longer.  Some joint types are fixed, (E.g. the trap "U" itself).  On these, just make sure you look at the joints closely, for the taper/ bevel matching, especially if the ones where you add the clear beveled washers.  When everything in place, and slopes are right, just snug down by hand, and then leak check.
p.s.  If you have to cut, always cut LONG (you can alway cut off a little more after you re-measure/ verify, (because you can't put it back on if cut too short)
