[DIY] Lowering our gas logs - update

Finally heard from the company that the blower was defective, a new once can't get here till 12/27.  Also learned all the blowers now put heat out the top rather than the bottom which I had expected.  Making it more important to lower the entire firebox - as it is, the flames are 36" off the floor and the blower will come out the top, another 24" or so.  We need heat lower to the floor.  According to the company, it's not a big deal to lower the firebox, especially since it's still in studs and sheetrock.  Gas line would have to be lowered (or have it show further up) and might need to have the electrical extended depending on how much wire there is.  Since these ventless fireboxes are self contained it's seems fairly easy.  We don't plan to do this till summer, but definitely before we add the brick.  Has anyone had experience with this type of thing?

This place was wired for baseboard heating but was actually installed in only a few rooms.  Unfortunately, I didn't think we'd need them, so used the breakers for something else.  But I might rethink them by next winter :) Couldn't be more expensive than the propane.
