I experience this same situation at my house. My gas furnaces have flame roll out sensors. They detect flame when it's lit up. So what happens is that the sensor get's carbonized, then it can't accurately or consistently detect proper temperature. At that point the gas valve shuts off but the blower motor will continue to run thus blowing cold air as the heat exchanger never achieved a hot temperature. After a couple years mine tend to get a black carbon over them. A quick fix it to clean them off. I wouldn't use anything abrasive. I typically use isopropyl alcohol. Then I order new sensors online on ebay or Amazon because this temp fix will likely not get you through the winter. For my Trane furnace they are usually under $15 each. Most gas furnaces have this sensor located just under the burner with a white wire going to it. It's held onto the frame with one sheet metal screw thus grounding it. Good luck!
