Thanks. I appreciate the response. The in-line trap was a consideration due to space requirements; I know they are usually used for A/Cs to keep bugs out, but they should work the same - holding water which would keep gasses from coming back up.

I see nothing wrong with your thinking......Just make sure the shower water
drains into the "trap"......The trap prevents sewer gas from entering the drain...
I do not see an "inline trap" of being any value......Pumps
