I am hoping to buy a saw in the next couple of months. I saw a dewalt on sale at Farm and Fleet but since it was the first time looking at them didnt want to jump the gun
2 of the best things I ever bought were within the past 6/8 years. One was a Stihl weed wacker... not the smalled but the next one larger. Small enough for me to handle and I also bought a different head for it so I can use the plastic cutting knives.
I LOVE them. boy they can be zipped off short easy by hitting a rock.
I also purchased a small Stihl chain saw. Dont think it was the smallest made but it may have been.
I eventually bought an extra chain. The salesman at Ace Hardware gave me a lesson on starting both of them and showed me the oil additive for the gas.
If I have a problem with either one of them and my husband can't fix it I know that the Ace Hardware store will fix it for us.
Good luck to you on this. I am pretty sure I will buy the Dewalt... I know they are expensive but I feel I have been a thrifty buyer my entire life... and never buy new clothes so I can splurge a little bit on the tools. For years we bought used or cheap tools... so we have "paid our dues."

Joyce, I'd be interested in your experience if you get one... My husband is now deep in alzheimers disease, and I've finally hired some boys to do the "yard" mowing and weed eating, which is about 4-5 acres around the house, the baler will bale the fields but there is still a lot of odds and ends I need to do myself. Tried to get a lightweight weedeater but sold out. I can't even lift my husbands big saws or outside machines so am looking for cordless ones. First purchase I think will be a chain saw, can use corded small tools close to the house really need a chain saw down by the creek. Problem I've had is no one has what I like in stock. I research, find something, try and buy it, only to get a sold out notice. Just heard it might be fall before the bicycle shops have enough stock - so wondering if the rest of our summer type purchases will all be delayed.

I bought one of the early models years ago. It had a 4-1/2" blade and used an 18 volt battery. Wouldn't cut much without running down the battery! There are higher voltage models now with larger blades that may do better. If you are looking for speed and usability definitely get a corded model! If you don't need it for long, look into renting one from a big box store or rental place.
