I agree with Scott. You can get corded saw cheap that are used. I have bought 3 worm drives for between $15-30 and all are name brand like Makita, Ridgid and Ryobi. Worm drives are heavier than others but they last longer and are more expensive at retail than "regular" ones. For a woman, you may not want to get a worm drive though.

For 99 out of a hundred situations, cordless circular saws are a DUMB idea. What do they give you. Convenience and lack of cord maintenance for VERY VERY small "just-a-few-cut" jobs. Otherwise for a larger job the wait time for recharge will be longer than using a hand saw to make the cut. OR the amount of money spent on multiple rechargers and batteries would cost more than hiring someone else to do the work. THE ONLY application I can think of would be up on a high ladder trimming a rafter tail ( or two ) that was out of line.
Believe it or not, I still use power cord drills for large jobs like screwing down subfloor or deck boards etc. Be smart. Dont just buy the latest gadgets because they are new. FWIW.... my favorite cordless drill/driver is a rubber handled screwdriver.

We have checked out the cordless skill saws at Farm and Fleet
Dewalt 60 v has one battery and is $299
always nice to have an extra battery right? Sold in packets of 2 ... for $270 or close to that
I could not justlify that kind of money for something we will use a few times a year (for projects that are big for us)
We ended up buying a Wagner paint sprayer to me to use painting a couple of stalls in the barn. $80 minus 10% showing a veterans card.
Will get our money out of it painting walls in the barn every summer.
We can pull a cord around for a skill saw before spending $300 to $600. Price surely will come down... someday
