If you are living in a trailer that is wired with aluminum wire, you are indeed living in an inferno just waiting to happen, hence the suggestion that your life insurance be doubled.  At one time there were several mobile home manufactures who built good quality units and adhered to quality plumbing and wiring standards.  As might be imagined their prices were also higher than the other cheaply built units and in a market where price is the only driving force, many either sold out or simply closed their doors.  Oakwood is well known for buying out other manufactures and either cheapening the product while continuing to capitalize on an established name or simply liquidating to reduce their own competition.  Mobile homes are never intended to be permanent residences and are also terrible financial investments as their rate of depreciation is terrible.  Most banks will not grant second owner loans on mobile homes for just that reason.
