RE: [DIY] Bleaching doesn't kill ceiling water stains for good?

NOPE! I had water stains and the only way to cover them up is BINZ shellac based primer.  Maybe Kilz has a version, but a water-based primer will definitely not work.

Make sure it's shaken twice at the store you get it and wear plastic gloves. It's rather watery and will run onto your hands.  When using it, I also buy a cheap, disposable brush so I can throw it away afterwards.

Subject: [DIY] Bleaching doesn't kill ceiling water stains for good?

Hi, I recently had a roof leak repaired around a skylight on the second floor.  The leak resulted in some water stains on the ceiling of the room just below that.  I had been told that I could mix up a 40% bleach/water solution and spray it on the stains and that would get rid of them.  But the stains returned after we had some rain which was after he fixed the leak.  So the roof repair guy said the only way I can get rid of them is to cover them with several coats of something like Kilz stain block.  True?  Thanks.  Joyce
