Just found my old Pioneer car radio. Its a DEH-12 with a CD player.

This unit would have have been being sold new around 2004. The image shows a DEH-1300, they must have kept the design but changed the designation in later years.
The face comes off of it by a couple of plastic stays that lever under some of the steel casing. They just had to be gently pried away then the whole face releases. The face on mine attaches to the body by a detachable connector. You can see the plastic retainers under the steel casing on mine. I just had to push them away from the steel and the face popped free. Be gentle.
This doesn't mean your comes apart the same way but it might give you some idea how others come apart.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out getting a USB drive. In the meantime, how did you get the housing apart to get to the volume knob?
