The radio I worked on wasn't a Pioneer. The way it came apart was totally different.
But my Pioneer has a couple of tiny phillips head screws holding the board to the back of the face but my face is all push button, no dial volume control. Mine is a different design from yours. Mine is a CD player, no tape. At least they were consistent with the way the face attached.
If there is a nut on the shaft of the volume control it likely has to be removed to pull the circuit board but that's just a guess on my part.
Look for any cracks in the solder on the board. Might need a magnifying glass to see it. If you see any broken solder joints they will need to be resoldered.

Thanks Steve,
Your directions worked. To get behind the volume control knob, did you just take off the nut holding the knob on? After that? Mine has a control board over the knob area so the area behind the knob is still hidden. How did you get behind the knob to solder it?
Thank
