If the brushes are worn down too short (low pressure)maybe a DIY repair; If a winding shorted, and tool is a higher priced (commercial grade) factory repair may be 40-50% of new cost, and a savings well worth considering. If DIY grade tool, maybe replacement cheaper Terry/ Memphis
