[DIY] Re: On-going insulation question on 2-story shed.

Is there a stair between the two?  If there is and it isn't closed off with a tight door then all the cool air is coming downstairs eventually anyway.  If they are separated you could insulate.  For 12 OC use 2 ft insulation which is actually 23 inches and cut it down the middle.  Lay a board as a straight edge on the backing,  Kneel on it to compress and cut with a utility knife.  It will bounce back.  12" OC should give a 10 1/2 space that should make the insulation fit without falling out and not too much compression.Calculate by sq foot and buy that amount of insulation.  Bats are 93 inches to fit an 8 ft wall cavity I don't think HD sells 24 inch in rolls.  Use what will be closest to the height of the joists or less.  It should stay up but drywall even if it isn't taped and painted will keep it there for sure and look nicer.
