If you have room to get at it with a good jigsaw, that will do it. It would require a long blade, but they are available. The cut would be very clean. I have a high end Bosch jigsaw that will go through a 2x4 sideways like butter.

The sawsall (sp?) reciprocating saw cuts a ragged edge and is hard to control.
