Since your moisture problem occurs in two places on separate floors of the house, I'd suggest that you place the dehumidifier in the bedroom for a while. (We spend 1/3 of our time in the bedroom while sleeping.) See if this improves that room's air quality. Then move it to the kitchen and repeat the test. Additionally, you may just need to add a fan to assist with the air flow from one room to the next.
