Staples with the cooper color are electroplated with copper. Zinc coating on steel is called galvanized. They can be hot dipped, electroplated or painted. I have applied cold galvanizing paint. 24 pounds per gallon and quite expensive.

Just wanting to make sure that these are actually indeed galvanized. And not that this batch didn't make it thru the process, hence it not having that copper hue to it.Could it be that the previous lot of staples were electroplated instead of hot galvanized?I purchased a box of staples recently for a pneumatic stapler. I noticed that the staples were silver in color. In the past, these same staples always had a copperish tone to it.The description states "Hot Galvanized Finish". Not to be confused with "hot dipped", by the way.
