I looked at the tube that caused me trouble.Red Devil 100% Silicone. Under the list of what it can do it says "Xcellent Adhesion."
It also says 50 year Guarantee. Maybe I should contact the company.
Some of the glassware I 'glued together' has stayed together... other pieces came apart.
My husband has used 100% silicone on garden tractor engine parts for years and has never had a problem.

I forgot one other thing, there is "silicone caulk", but I believe there is also "silicone adhesive caulk", which is what you need to look for, so read the labels, and not all is "adhesive". Should be available at any hardware or big-box store, but the small mom-pop store maybe more likely to have "old stock" than one that turns inventory quickly.
