you've probably already checked these areas but if not, I'd check around the hot water heater, under cabinets where water faucets connect, dish washer etc. Look
for bulges in the ceiling where the paint may have bulged indicating a buildup of water.
There's also a possibility that the smell may be coming from the attic if there's a leak up there from the roof. Check up in the attic to see if the smell is stronger or
if you can see any water stains either on the plywood roofing or water damage/mold/mildew on the insulation.
Also, if water isn't being diverted away from the house,
the smell may be coming from mold/mildew from the water seeping through the cinderblock in the basement. We had something like that happen when we lived
in a townhouse. Had to dig up the entire front of the house and put in a barrier and then reslope the yard to divert water away from the house. Not a cheap job.

Subject: [DIY] dampness odor
Recently we have noticed an odor in the house. It smells damp. I am unable to find the source. We completely remodeled the house over the past 15 years. I do not see any visible sign of dampness on the walls, ceilings, basement or any where else. Under our front porch is a dirt crawl space with an access door which is in the basement. I have inspected it and it is dry and basically smells like dirt. I do not see any roof looks or other areas where the dampness is coming from. We even moved the furniture to see if something was underneath it creating the odor. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken
