Solved it! Stapled a piece of hardware cloth so they can't get where they thought they'd build a nest. No more noisy birds, and it doesn't even show from the ground.

Never tried it but I heard that reflective items deter birds. Some folks string up old cd/dvd media. Sun bounces off of the media creating a distracting visual.
