Hi Joy, wow that is some real good news. My hubby is so worn out from all the scraping he has done. He plans to continue using the very hot water and scraping as much as he can, but with your good report about the ceramic adhering after so many years, I believe that his strength is being renewed. I had the same problem in a small bathroom (concrete subfloor, too).
Nothing worked. So I finally just decided that if the new ceramic
tiles started coming up, then I would scrape off what they pulled up
and re-stick 'em. Used water-based thinset, so that would've been easy.
It's been several years, and none of them show any sign at all of
loosening...
