Same with electrical. My problem is that I plan things one way and for some reason, it goes another. I try to anticipate different ways of doing things, and buy all the stuff for each way, but sometimes, it doesn't work out as easily as planned.

DIY or Professional, when dealing with plumbing,
it is usually much easier to have "all potential new/spare parts on hand when you start";
a) without, a 10-min job can turn into 4-hours with multiple trips to the store, or
b) where (with spare parts) you finish the 10-min job, and then identify what to keep as future spare, and maybe make 1-trip back to store to return extra/ wrong
