If the air conditioner is not keeping up and the outdoor unit is running
what does it mean that the copper tubing running to the furnace is iced up?
J Hnidy
It can mean: a) dirty air filter, or b) the inside fan failed to run/ is cycling/ running slow, or c) inside coil is DIRTY/ needs cleaning. d) It can also mean that thermostat set too low (below 70'f) and starting icing at night, when outside temp dropped. ACTION: Install new air filter, Turn Cool/ Heat switch to OFF, and turn Fan switch to ON, and allow fan to run an hour+ to defrost coil well. Turn back on, and you may have no further trouble (or for weeks/ months); schedule cleaning in FALL if no other problems, and it will be cheaper
There are a few other possibilities, but they are technical, and above is (most) likely...
