[DIY] Fixing deck fiasco

Maybe this goes along with the contractor problems thread that is currently on the list. I have to fix a problem that has been left to me by some people I contracted to wash and stain my deck. I hired some people without checking them out--yes, I know, my big mistake!! They had taken a tree down for my neighbor and they had done such a great job and as they were leaving they said that they also did misc. jobs around the house so I proposed that they do my deck. Bad move on my part, just because they can do trees... Anyway, since I am working crazy hours at work and my w/e are filled I have not had time to do it myself so I hired them. I've done this myself and it is not too hard so I did not think they could do too bad a job. WRONG! The pressure washing was totally inadequate and then, even though they said they would let it dry for at least a day, they stained it with semi-transparent stain (Behr premium) that I provided for them after waiting for about an hour after they pressure washed it.

Of course the job is horrible! Now, I just want to fix the mess. I need to clean it again. The stain has not taken (no surprise) it is still very tacky after two days.

My plan would be to just pressure wash it again and hopefully get out the grime that they left behind. I know that will take a lot of elbow grease. Is there anything or any product that someone might suggest for me to use? I plan to spend this w/e doing this. And, just how long should I wait after washing a deck and staining?

Any helpful advice would be welcome. Please no comments about how stupid my decision to have someone untested do this for me. Believe me I have kicked myself enough.
