It is amazing how wasteful society has become. We
are expected to toss out anything that breaks, or we
no longer desire. Fortunately, there are many who
agree with you Bill, and take other folks trash to turn
to treasures.
At the end of this year's growing season, I'd recommend
you clean the frames very carefully and coat them well
with a dark green enamel paint. Match the color to the
rest of our garden items. It will prolong the life of the
frame exposed to the weather, and deter the neighbors
from recognizing the original purpose. The dark green
enamel is also more attractive than the raw metal. Your
significant others complaints may be mostly aesthetics.
Those hulls left behind by the bird feeders could be going
into the compost bin......
