RE: [DIY] Vinyl fence post question

out of curiosity, I googled vinyl fencing and learned a couple of things:

1.  Vinyl fencing is popular for containing horses as well as decorative fencing for homes.

2.  Every installation guide I read had hollow vinyl posts.  None of them indicated any reason or method

of filling them with wood or any other filler before putting them into the ground.  Many, however, recommend

using concrete (or dry concrete) to secure the posts into the ground.  24-30" seemed to be the average recommended

depth for each post.

So maybe they won't need reinforcement internally?

There was a vinyl 3 board fence put in down the road from us about 15 years ago. In the spring when the ground was very soft after the winter thaw, we had a heavy spring wind and the fence leaned into the east. I always thought it was pretty stupid that no one pushed it up straight and re tamped each post.

It still leans to this day.

That's not so bad then.  Being a rail fence with no "sail" effect with the wind like a solid fence would be, you are probably OK.

This is a 3 board rail fence.

I think I had a graying brownette moment. I just measured the posts again.
They are 7 feet long. There are 44 inches below the bottom board.

The boards are spaced with 10 inches between each one.
If I set the post so the bottom board is 10 inches off the ground..
I will have 34 inches in the ground.

Not sure how I managed to measure so far off yesterday!!! criminy

What type of fence...ranch? Privacy? Picket? How tall are the posts?
