[DIY] Re: FASCINATING PROGRAMMABLE MACHINE FROM LONG AGO

I am retired programmer/engineer/designer///the Letter Wheel, which is the
heart of the little writer, can be re-programmed to write anything....that is
indeed the roots of programming...I wonder if Babbage and Boole (1791 -the first
analytical machine, known as the father of the computer) knew each other as
they were of the same era and Babbage did work in Geneva I believe//

It is truely Amazing.....BUT he must be a lonely automaton...isn't there
a girl writer for him? (LOL)

I used to have a sample of the writing of this doll, plus his companion's portrait of somebody or other.
Of course, the dolls were only about 200 years old when my samples were done.

Similar to nickelodeon, link-belt knitter and several other devices. I worked on a screw machine (a programmable, hydraulic turning lathe) built before 1946. Fascinating machine.

[DIY] Canning info?

I am interested in learning how to can. I have -0- supplies or anything. I'm a complete novice. I just know that I'm healthier eating the veggies that I grow as opposed to the store bought ones. Does anyone have pointers on what equipment I need to buy and reliable resources that I can use to learn to can? I didn't want to just hit youtube because I know that canning is serious business.
