What you need to stop/ prevent future rot is to add a porch roof to keep rain splash from hitting door frame. Frame rot can be spliced/ repaired, but it takes a skilled craftsman to get it right. Kreg pocket hole jig is one option, since most cannot do the original factory finger-joints. If you see a frame on the curb on garbage day, grab it, and it can give you the spice material for the repair
