Looked at your photos again today and realized your door facings are also installed wrong (the trim that lays on the wall around the 3-sides of the jamb)
- Your existing facing trim is incorrectly flush with the (face/ wide part) of the jamb, and it should be backset 3/8". Some call this a "3/8 reveal" as it "reveals 3/8" of the (narrow EDGE of the jamb), {which, by the way, is half of the (normal 3/4") thickness of the jamb}. Some call it "shadow lines"
- But the importance of the 3/8" back set is very evident when you install hinges properly, as the hinge pin (uses/ sits in) this 3/8" back set space to prevent interference. Otherwise, you would have to notch the facing (trim), but if you notch the facing to do that, then you cannot remove the pins. Looks like cusswords and Could result in additional cuss words...
- So you can see the 3/8 facing trim back set is very important.
- Clear as mud?
