[DIY] Re: painting question/advice

 

if this is outside, you really do want an oil based primer for long life. and yes you can use the latex over the oil base primer. works just fine. but you do need to use good quality for both. and the surface prep and application are just as important as the product you apply. i try for the best at the start, cause i hate to paint, so i prefer to a good first time rather than several 2nd times.
and you won't get the quality you need at one of the box stores. lowes, hd, and various hardware stores are ok, as long as you get the better quality paints/primers. do your research on the internet, or better yet, talk to a local well recommended professional painter.
