I have reattached bathroom tile, repaired loose plaster, repaired broken concrete, glued floors in pick-up truck beds, and any number of other items using clear paint-able acrylic caulking compound. It is easy to smooth and cleans up with a damp rag until it has set. Once set it is permanent. As far as I am concerned it beats liquid nails all hollow. Dampen both surfaces before applying for better penetration. I have even repaired and painted cracked stucco foundations and many years later the repairs are invisible and it looks great. It also cover cracks in plaster walls and ceilings and they do not open back up as it remains slightly flexible.

I found a post recommending Liquid Nails for this problem. I think that's what we'll try tomorrow afternoon. Finish cleaning it all off today and let it dry. Anyone have a better thought?
