A thought I had was to look for stainless staples. I did a search online and found some but staples come in many widths, sizes and gauges. You'd have to find what you think might work. You wouldn't have the problem of a coating on them with stainless.

Any advice on other fasteners? Attaching welded wire (kind of like chicken wire) to wood. My only other thought is that they probably make hot dipped galvanized fence staples that you manually hammer. Pneumatic stapling would be so much quicker though.

I would think the Electro plated may be, because of the plating process, but the dipping may leave a heavier coating, If it is scraped of, Obviously the metal will be less protected, but the sell a producd whic is cold galvanize which is in a spray can, for touch up. Tehy do make other types of outdoor fasteners you could look into, just depends on what your fastening.
