Re: [DIY] Can I install ceramic tile without removing existing molding?

bill is certainly right It just make the job look some much better.One note carefully
 remove the baseboard mouldings label  them on the back  as to what walls each is off and always pull the nails out through the back of the moldings some you will only have small holes to fill  on the face side with color putty to top the job off, hope this helps jeff

If you are careful you should not damage the molding as you remove it then
you just remove the nails and reuse. If you tile up to the base, then put
down quarter round, you will lose at least1/2 inch of the base height, then
when you put the quarter round down it will look off. I would remove the
molding and tile to 1/4 inch from the wall, then put the molding back down.

Howdy;

We are starting on our ceramic tile in dining/kitchen/utility.
We have nice *foot molding* I think it's called? With toe molding. Of
course we will remove the toe molding, but I was thinking that we could
leave the foot molding and install the tile up against that, either flush,
or a millimeter or so between tile and molding. Then, when finished, we
would simply put install the toe molding on top of the tile up against the
foot molding.
It would save us alot of money and time.

Any advice on this?? Thanks
