OK, that does it, as soon as Momma gets home I'm coming for a visit. Just hide the checkbook she won't complain for long :) I don't cook as much anymore and unfortunately I eat what I do cook, but Christmas is my time to bake and make candy, my speciality. I make baskets for the neighbors and send all the kids and grandkids boxes, one year I sent my DIL's big boxes just before Thanksgiving, took care of almost all of their holiday entertaining, lots of variety and they didn't have to do anything. It was a lot of work and cost a bit but MIL hit a home run with that one. Glass rooms are not only wonderful for plants, painting etc - they say they are useful for depression. We had one off the kitchen at our farm (my dream house) was glass on 3 sides. I had acess to the kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry - an outside door to the garden and one to the back deck. We designed it for my in-house studio, faced southeast so had wonderful morning sun. Although it was only 10x15' it served the purpose and I kept a lot of plants in there to overwinter, which made it very pleasant. During hay season, the guys could enter through there, wash up then go sit the deck to eat their meals. Hardly a day goes by I wish we had sold off the property and kept the house and a few acres.
I have settled on an Electrolux ICON Professional E36DF76GPS which built by is a sub-division of Frigidaire. It is a little pricey but is what she has always dreamed of. I know she will have a hissy fit when she sees the check book but I'm hoping to finally fulfill some of her dreams. It is dual fuel which gives her the 6 burner gas top and electric oven.
One of her other dreams has always be a glass walled room and while we can not do one with 4 glass sides we will be able to do two sides, East and South. It is well past time for a new roof and I'm doing the drawings now to remove the porch, extend the roof line and do the new porch all in windows. These will be the new tilt in for cleaning type and she can then have either a screened or glassed area depending on the time of the year. Roofing will be coated steel so this will hopefully be the last roof we ever have to worry about, baring a violent wind storm and then all bets are off anyway.
