Re: [DIY] FYI from the Moderator:

Wow, I was thrilled when I came home this afternoon with a ton of groceries for company for a week and found hubby had cleaned the refrig out for me.  Your wife will be speechless, sounds like a great deal!!

As for drawers instead of lower cabinets, you will love them!! I've done that in every place we've built or rebuilt and I sure miss them in this house.  I'm tall and have always disliked having to get on my knees to get in the lower cabinets and the sliding shelves were not much of an improvement.  I love to be able to see what you have by just sliding a drawer open - for bowls etc in addition to pans!!!  If your wife bakes a lot a special area to store all the baking items was one of the best things I ever did.  The drawers helds canisters for flour/sugar  & shallow ones for spices - sizes for baking pans etc and a wide counter top for rolling dough.  Although I've never had one, you might think of a deep drawer with a shelf that rises for the blender etc.  I'm sure there is a proper name for it, I've seen it in several cabinet catalogues.  I did put in heavy-duty sliding shelves with outlets so I could just lift the mixer/blender etc onto the counter and didn't have to worry about cords.

Momma spent two weeks with one of our daughters last year and this was her first real get away in 40 years of marriage.  She and all concerned had a great time, so we decided to do it again this year as well.  The daughter and son-in-law enjoyed coming home to ready meals, and one of the grandsons posted on his Face-book that it was great finding his clothes already folded for him.  Momma plans to enjoy some serious shopping trips this year.  I think it is about time she had a complete wardrobe make over, and knowing our daughter, no will not be an option.

She does not know it yet, but I plan to have her new 22 cuft stainless bottom freezer frige and 36 in stainless commercial style range in place by the time she gets home.  This way she can't balk at the price.  I will post photos later of the renderings of the new kitchen we are building and will appreciate your comments.  there will be NO Doors on the lower cabinets, only drawers with many being deep and wide enough for all her pots and pans.  Momma has had two knee replacements and getting down to rummage through shelves is not an option.
