Re: [DIY] "Industrial Strength" Velcro for Windshield

My concern with glue or other adhesives is resale or if the windshield gets cracked by something and needs to be replaced. What I have found to be better is something with weight that can be placed on the dash or suction cupped to the windshield.  read the manual and see if the device has to be displayed on the windshield.  if not the dash would be a great place(up by the vin number but not covering it).  After doing a bit of research on these here is what I have found...In general, windshields that contain metal in the glass (metal oxide) and mirrors with compass or temperature readings may prevent the signal from being read properly. Also, windshields with the following glass features may interfere with the signal and require alternative or exterior mounting: solar ray, solar tint, heated, heat reflected, insulated, Insta-Clear. If you are unsure if your vehicle has one of these listed features, contact your car dealership. Most of the models i researched have an external mount on the license plate at no extra charge.  Your friend may want to look into that option.

I would try the epoxy made for sticking rear view mirrors. Seems to last well.

My friends have an "easy pass" gadget for their car, which pays tolls
automatically without having to stop and hand someone money.

It came with a good velcro strip to attach it to the windshield, but
that eventually lost its stickiness because of the heat. They bought
some velcro that was claimed to be "industrial strength" but the
glue failed quickly. (The hooks & loops were fine but the part that
stuck to the windshield didn't stick long.)

Where can they get velcro with glue that will stand up to windshield
conditions? Is there a glue that will re-stick the fallen part more
reliably? Or is there another way to stick it to the windshield
(but still be removable)?
