Not really, because then you have a roof that in several sections that needs to be recombined and made water tight. On the other hand this is not an afternoon's undertaking with several bumper jacks and a chain saw either. You may be able to find some information like photos or videos on the web. but by all means enlist the assistance of a professional before you attempt this. I will not attempt to explain the fittings, devices and other aspects because I cannot see your house and have no way to access the possible problems you may encounter.

Thanks Dale - the snow load is light and there will still be a little slope. I love the idea of just lifting the roof - then we are just making short walls and a shed...I assume it would be best to do this in the shorter 8' sections as opposed to doing a long dormer....
