Re: [DIY] sawdust toilet / Re: ? about trailer home

My maternal grandparents modernized their house probably about the time I was born, however, my Dad's folks refused even though he was going to pay for it.  To the day they died they didn't understand why people put those dirty things in their house, LOL.

Someone mentioned chemical toilets. We had one for the horse trailer, it fit in the small dressing room.  Was not much different from a regular toilet, had a paper holder and a flush button, like what you see on an airplane.  They don't have any smell if you use the chemical in the tank and keep it clean.  Ours had a drain hookup with a hose so was easy to drain and clean, the chemicals break up all the solids.  We also used it in a back stall when we were home.  It saved a long walk back to the house when you smelled like a horse and were covered in straw and dirt - not to mention other stuff.  Our granddaughter is still using it today, she has a shower in the back of her horse trailer where it's stored while traveling.  They've put up a rod next to the shower and when the toilet is set there you can pull the curtain to have a private area - all the comforts of home.
