FWIW, ebay has one for sale with a buy it now price of $13. If nothing else, you could get that one and
use the existing one for future spare parts.

Subject: [DIY] tripod screw
Websearch isn't doing any good. I have acquired an old Sunset GD-3000 tripod. Think I might like it better than the other ones I have, but it's missing the camera-mount screw.
Any idea where I might get one, or what I could get at the hardware store to rig it up? Apparently there are no more camera stores left around here...
