Septic Tank systems usually need an enzyme additive 1-2/ year, but repeated drain problems usually indicate a broken pipe or roots.but, in today's technology, they can run a camera to diagnose correctly, and can save thousands over digging it all up to (blindly) diagnose (Hundreds $$ for camera, I suspect) (Guessing 1-4 man-hours plus equipment fees).
The other septic tank potential disaster can be a running toilet, or leaky faucet causing tank overfill/ overflow, especially in rainy weather when ground saturated, or when you went out of town for a week on vacation and (unknowingly) left a toilet running.
Bath "wipes" are also a plumbing disaster, especially w/ septic. London, England recently found a septic "wipe" clog in one of their ancient systems that was the size of an 18-wheeler.... they do NOT easily dissolve, despite label wording
