I am Staining outside of house with a transparent stain on natural wood A-frame house. The stain is pretty pricey. I also have an oil preservative called Wood Guard. I was thinking of combining it with one or both of 2 products I already have on hand. One is Wood Guard, which is often used for log homes. The other is Thompson's Water Seal. I was contemplating on using an oil based stain with these. Are there any comments on how they would work?
