We've pulled up the vinyl flooring. It's left the porous underside stuck to the plywood subfloor. My husband has spent two hours scraping it up and it's only about a 3 ft square spot lol.
If we pull up all of the non-adhered spots to the subfloor, and leave the adhered porous paper part that has adhered w the glue to the subfloor very securely, I feel like we can thinset over this. It's not thin-paper thin, but it's pretty smooth and pretty thin and pretty hard. We moistened it and it didn't become gummy but was easier to scrape up,but we were taking some wood with it too it seemed; don't know if that's a contradiction.
Any advice about whether a bad idea to thinset over the bottom of the vinyl paper/adhesive residue, especially if we're using ditra mat (thinset then ditra mat then thin set again)??
Many thanks :u)
