That does help. However, I noticed it says this -
a.. Nails are normally driven through a thin piece of wood and into a
thicker one. This allows 2/3 of the nail to provide holding power in the
thick piece of wood.
At the moment, though, I'll be driving a nail through the *thicker* board
and into the side of a thinner one. Thus my not wanting to split the
thinner wood.
