You can get the power (hot and neutral) from the light fixture or go to the light switch and connect to the neutral(if present in the switch box) and the load (light) side of the switch to have the fan and lights on at the same time. Alternately, you can run the fan wire to the switch box and replace the existing single switch with a double switch and have separate switches for each. If you only have 2 single wires at the switch, you have no neutral present and you will have to go get a neutral from another location to the fan.
