[DIY] Re: door frame repair

 

The proper way on the door is to shim hinges for proper gap around all sides.  Tom Silva on TOH repaired a. door (lock area) by routing, gluing in new thicker piece, hand-planing to close and finish sanding to final.  Really sweet job he did.  I repaired a door jamb with bottom rot by installing the new extension patch with Pocket Screws; came out fine for me.
