I'll look into this. Thanks so much for the link...... I had not thought of this. I've got a big roll of black plastic and I don't care if it kills everything else as long as the Ivy is killed off, I can re-landscrape it later.

It cooks the ground, killing most everything. It effectively composts the soil. I looked to see if it was effective for English ivy, didn't find if it was or not.
